HALFEN HIT Insulated Connection

The “Green Building” Movement is gaining momentum worldwide resulting in stricter regulations regarding the energy efficiency of structures. This is evident in recent energy code changes (IECC, ASHRAE 90.1 and NECB).

Various demands are placed on balcony connections:
  • Higher demand on exterior effective R-values
  • Continuous insulation (CI) through the exterior building envelope
  • Effective thermal insulation on the balcony slab to guarantee a high level of interior comfort
HALFEN HIT Insulated Connection are the perfect solution to achieve the highest standards of quality. Two versions are available:
  • HIT-HP (High Performance) with an insulation thickness of 3 1/8 in (80mm)
  • HIT-SP (Superior Performance) with an insulation thickness of 4 3/4 in (120mm)

Innovative product line

HALFEN has developed a new symmetrical HIT balcony connection - the installation direction is no longer important!

Due to the new shape of the double-symmetrical CSB the balcony connections for cantilevered balcony slabs (HIT-HP/SP MVX) are symmetrical. They can be installed irrespective of the slab or balcony orientation.

This feature improves installation reliability (on the construction site).

  • MVX - cantilevered balcony slabs: transfer of bending moments and bidirectional shear forces as standard
  • MVX OU, MVX OD - cantilevered balcony slabs with height offset:  transfer of bending moments and bidirectional shear forces as standard
  • ZVX - simply-supported balcony slabs on columns: transfer of shear forces in one direction
  • ZDX - simply-supported balcony slabs on columns: transfer of shear forces in both directions
  • DD - balcony slab recessed in a main slab: transfer of bidirectional  bending moments and shear forces
  • AT, FT, OTX  - connection of parapets and corbels
