Allegheny north Shore Connector tunnel
The ‘Allegheny north Shore Connector tunnel‘ a 1.2 mile extension of the 25 mile T light rail service under the Allegheny River connecting downtown Pittsburgh CBD to the north shore, is a signiἀcant regional investment, designed to enhance development opportunities and support the expansion of public transportation over a purely automobile based urban transportation system. The North Shore Connector uses HALFEN channel curved to a 10’ radius. This large section channel is installed directly on the face of the precast tunnel lining segments to support heavy utility and service pipes, and to fire suppression equipment.
