Kai Tak Cruise Terminal

The new Kai Tak Cruise Terminal has been constructed on the site of Hong Kong´s former airport, at the tip of the old runway. Establishing Hong Kong as the preeminent hub for cruise liners, the terminal has capacity to berth two large 360-m-long vessels, each with more than 4000 passengers and over 2000 crew, as well as anticipating the demands of a next generation of larger ships. The design of the Cruise Terminal Building has adopted a sustainable construction approach that extends beyond low energy consumption to the overall long term sustainability performance of the building. Green features in relation to conservation of energy, adoption of renewable energy and recycling are all covered.

For the fixation of the building façade, hot-rolled HALFEN Anchor channels were selected by the local façade contractor due to their high resistance against fatigue loading and reliable quality features. The winning of this project marks another great achievement for Leviat. It demonstrates market´s recognition of Leviat ´s engineering capabilities and strengthen the position as leading supplier of cost-efficient concrete anchoring systems.
