Devon Energy Center
Oklahoma City, USA
With 50 levels and at a height of 844 ft. (257 m), the tower of the Devon Energy Center is the tallest building in Oklahoma and has already become a local icon. This 750 million dollar project enjoys LEED-gold certification, and uses high performance thermal glass to let in more light and reduce the solar load. The distinctive shape of the building also contributes to reduced solar gain. The building is the new headquarters for Devon Energy Corporation, the largest U.S.-based independent oil and natural gas producer. One floor was added every 8 days. Floor space totals 1.8 million sq. ft.
The unique shape of the building presented a challenge during the detailing and fabrication of the façade fixings - custom corner embeds were produced to match the precise obtuse angle of the façade. HALFEN custom anchor channels were used in top-of-slab and bottom-of-slab situations to connect the façade elements to the slabs. HALFEN HM mounting channel was also used to bridge structural steel elements, and offered the contractor a single method of fixing.
